This depends on the length of the book. I charge £140 per-finished-hour (PFH), so if your audiobook is 5 hours long, it will cost £700. I can provide you with an estimate based on the number of words in your book.

Again, it depends on the length of the book. I can provide an estimate of the required time, based on the number of words in the book and my current workload.

The cost includes preparation of the script, recording, editing and producing audio files ready for publication. Any amendments or revisions after submission of final files, or significant changes to the script during recording, will be charged separately.

Some platforms like Audible allow for variations of payment method. These include per-finished hour, royalty share or a mix of the two. Royalty share means the author and narrator share a proportion of the sales revenue. The proportion can vary. For example, Audible pays 40% of the sales revenue to the author and narrator, who each receive 20% of the sales for seven years.

There are various platforms available on-line through which your audiobook can be published. You may have heard of ACX/Audible, Authors Republic, Findaway/Spotify, along with many others. I can guide you through this process and assist you in making the right choice. Or, you may want me to submit the final files direct to you, and you publish the audiobook how you wish.

Communication is key to this, and before the script preparation stage we will discuss and agree on your requirements and preferences. This could include characters’ voices, accents, monitoring of work, how amendments are dealt with, and which platform you wish to use for publication. Once the basics have been agreed, I will prepare the script and finalise any queries with you. Only then will I record and prepare audio files and submit them to you, or to your chosen platform, for you to review and approve. I prefer to submit these in batches so that you can review, approve or request changes as we go along.

It depends. If a script for narration has already been published, it is likely to have been proofread and copy edited already, although this may not always be the case. I can proofread your script prior to narration, but this would be a separate service and charged accordingly. I can also suggest minor rewrites, if required.

I’m happy to fit in with you. Email is popular but most platforms allow for messaging between clients and narrators – and would expect this, in the unlikely event that disputes arise. Zoom and Whatsapp are also options.
